My Students
Class 309 is one of a kind! It is filled with the most amazing third graders a teacher could ask for. I have the honor to be a part of our school’s first third grade ICT. Together with my magnificent co-teacher, we explore ways to reach the many levels and learning styles of our students. Our school is located in Queens, New York- the epicenter of diversity. As a school we are met with various cultures, backgrounds, and experiences. We work to meet the needs of our students while being sensitive to their personal and academic lives.
Being in an inclusive setting is extremely rewarding for all members involved, however, there are obstacles that make instruction challenging- even with two teachers.
The main challenge is to ensure that our students always have access to content. We struggle to find appropriate tools and resources that will diminish instructional barriers. Our class is filled with ENL learners, students with disabilities and advanced learners. Despite our differences, we work as a team to make our learning experience the best it can be. We hope our little learners continue to be confident, curious and collaborative as they move forward in life.
My Project
Being able to have iPads for our students will open up the door for many learning opportunities. We will have access to all types of digital and interactive learning tools for everyone. We currently have limited computer access and with 28 students, we are unable to provide enough technology based education. In an inclusive setting, there are various learning styles that require accommodations and modifications. With iPads in our classroom, students with disabilities will be able to read their just right books with discretion, have access to audio support and use programs that cater to their needs. Our ENL population will utilize language support websites and applications. Students will be able to enhance their technology skills in order to thrive in this digital age.
All students will be able to benefit from the learning platform iPads have to offer.
It will prepare them to be resourceful in their academic and personal lives.
