iLearn and iExcel with iPads in our Kindergarten Classroom
My students need iPads as well as protective cases and headphones. We plan to use these for daily use in centers with the Lexia app and the many other educational apps!
I have a wonderful group of twenty-one Kindergarten students who eagerly enter my classroom each day ready to learn. Though many of them came into school with little knowledge of letters, most will exit Kindergarten knowing how to read! My desire is for their love of learning to grow!
Our small, country school is in the heart of our community.
Many of my students come from homes where they may be raised by grandparents, live in a single family home, or live below the poverty line. We currently have near fifty percent of our population receiving free or reduced lunch. Technology use is often not at the top of their priority list. Despite the challenges we face, my students come to school with hope for their future and minds ready to learn more!
My Project
My students need four iPads, headphones and protective cases to become efficient digital learners. Students will use these items to investigate and practice skills learned using a variety of apps including Lexia daily in the classroom. My students are looking forward to using apps to practice math facts, sight words, reading skills and even handwriting. Putting these iPads in the hands of my Kindergartners will open their eyes to the world around them and allow technology to be integrated on a more consistent basis.
In order to keep up with the ever changing world of technology, we could really use iPads in our Kindergarten classroom!
Donating these will provide my students with hands on learning like no other which is exactly what my kindergartners need! They will use the iPads to learn fine motor skills as well as reading, math and writing. A whole new world of learning can be done with just the touch of a button!
