Most of my students do not have access to technology outside of school. I would like to provide them with many opportunities for instructional use during the school day.
I am proud to be a teacher of an extremely diverse group of third grade students.
They attend a Title 1 school that is over 50% free and reduced lunch. A majority of these students do not have technology available at home. I want to provide my students with opportunities to explore technology while maximizing their learning and interests.
My students love hands on learning and being able to take control of their education. The iPad Minis will allow them to explore a variety of topics we teach in third grade, while fostering their growth as 21st century learners. Please help me make a difference in their lives and future students!
My Project
I will utilize the iPad Minis, with protective cases, in many ways. These iPad Minis come with a variety of built-in apps and allow us to access different apps to support content in all subject areas. For reading, students will use the iPad Minis to listen to books, record themselves reading, practice word work, practice comprehension skills, and much more! For math, students will use the iPad Minis to self check their understanding by using a variety of apps geared towards the content. The iPad Minis will allow students to use digital manipulative items to build better understanding of concepts.
Students will be able to use the iPad Minis in other subject areas to support them in research projects. Students can document their learning by creating presentations, newsletters, and videos. The iPad Minis will bring technology into my classroom, which my students have been eager to explore. It will spark the interests of hesitant learners and increase enthusiasm in the classroom
The ability to use technology is a skill which has become extremely necessary in order to be successful in our world.
I want my students to be successful in class, as well as in their daily lives. As educators, we need to prepare our students for the future by giving them real world opportunities. Using technology will provide an opportunity to increase engaged learning, as well as, prepare our students for their future!
