My students need an iPod to use during group time.
This project expired on June 11, 2010.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
I teach in a classroom designed for students on the Autism spectrum. The students range in age from Kindergarten to 5th grade. We are a self contained classroom full of active kids with short attention spans.
Group time in my classroom is a MESS! For the most part, the students enjoy the daily routine of songs and activities. Most of my students (8 of which are present for daily group) require constant adult support to stay focused and seated when there is a lapse in activity. Using our small stereo and a selection of CDs causes several breaks in activity where the students become distracted. I also have a student that is obsessed with electronic buttons and it is a constant fight to keep him away from our stereo and keep the music uninterrupted by him!
I need an IPOD to use during group time. I have a docking station already and think that importing my CDs into the Ipod and creating playlists for the week would make group time go much more smoothly. The built in speaker incorporated in this model would enable me to take our songs with us as well! This would assist in transitions to and from different areas of the school as well as during wait times that normally result in meltdowns.
Your donation will enable my students to be more independently successful during the school day. I look forward to sending you our thanks!!!!!
