Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My enthusiastic four year-olds are playful, active, full of curiosity and like sponges, ready to absorb and learn as much as they can. Our class is composed of a variety of cultures, in which every child is unique and starting to form their own identity. They start their day filled with positive energy and ready to explore the classroom environment through hands-on activities, songs and lots of play.
The best way my pre-kindergarten students learn is through active engagement, authentic experiences and sprinkling some fun into everything they do.
They inspire me to push my own creativity in finding engaging ways to explore concepts of literacy, math, science, art, technology and social skills. Each child comes eager to learn and grow, and it is truly a blessing for me to be able to help them cultivate their way of learning and make sense of the world around them.
My Project
LEGOS lend themselves to be inviting and open up endless possibilities for children to discover, investigate, work collaboratively, build on hand-eye coordination, develop social and emotional skills, provide a sense of accomplishment and give endless opportunities to express what their mind is thinking.
Through LEGOS STEAM kits and LEGO DUPLO Building sets, our pre-kindergarten students will be able to find a love in engineering, discovery and investigation.
The LEGO sets will be specifically used to build upon our Creative Curriculum investigations and projects. As we investigate trees, balls, buildings, clothes, recycling and pets, LEGOS will provide opportunities for students to observe, sort, and count. They will also be able to explore numbers, shapes and colors as they build their own creations and work on those fine motor skills that are essential for performing everyday skills and academic skills.
