We have a classroom of 20 students in Rural Illinois. We are a county wide school and still only have approximately 400 students Kindergarten through 5th Grade. We are identified as having a high level of low income students. Over 50% of our students are signed up for free or reduced lunches.
We have built such a strong sense of community in our room this year and I have a such a great group of kids!
The positive energy that this group brings to school each day is rejuvenating as a teacher and they deserve the best!
My kids love independent reading time, but our classroom library is limited on fiction and nonfiction books to choose from. If we were awarded these bundles of books, we could have the world at our fingertips. My dream is for the kids to be able to use their imagination and to live vicariously through these books.
I am thrilled with the passion that my students have for reading and I really want to reward them with books that spark creativity and spark their interests.
My goal is to get my students begging to borrow from our classroom library shelves!
