My students need Fire tablets and shockproof cases to increase effective technology use in the classroom and support our mathematics and literacy program.
My classroom is a bustling learning environment with 26 young minds, ready to learn and grow. It is a diverse group of individuals that teach me more than I could ever teach them in a year. The class is ran with a mix of structure, love and a touch of magic. We dance, sing, laugh, read, write and question anything and everything we can. The children love to explore and experiment and always grow leaps and bounds during our very quick school year.
Each day I am blessed with smiling faces and eager eyes, waiting to see what it is that is in store for them.
I have always had a passion to teach Kindergarten, as it is the first step on a long road of learning and the enthusiasm is endless. Our day starts off with hugs and high fives, then we settle into a morning meeting, with a responsive classroom approach. Everyday we get to greet each other and bond before we jump into the curriculum. Our meetings are key to creating a safe and balanced learning environment.
My Project
My students will use Kindle Fires to access math and reading interactive games and programs in our classroom. We are limited on technology and I am not only interested in pursuing a true "Daily 5" approach to Literacy, but I would like to be able to use the technology in a variety of other learning activities. Ex. Math games, online library access, QR coded books for a listening center, musical reinforcement for sight word work and basic math concepts, online virtual field trips...the list goes on.
We have some amazing online resources offered through the school, now we need a way to access them.
I am currently unavailable to offer technology to more than two students in our room and my goal is to support a small group during our daily center rotations.
I have been using a wonderful app online to communicate with parents and maintain individual student journals. Kindle Fires support this app and having them would allow students to document their own work and share it with their families. This would create more ownership and engagement in classroom activities and allow students to gain technological skills.
