Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a diverse group of 7th graders who are still discovering their love of reading and writing. I teach English Language Arts at a title 1 school. Majority of the time my students lack the proper technology and materials to reach their full potential.
My students are creative, innovative, and resourceful young adults!
I want to give them the tools and the supplies to ignite their love of reading and writing. Given the proper resources, there is no limit to where they can go.
My Project
With the addition of Chromebooks into our classroom, we will be one of the only classrooms in the school that has access to such technology. My students will be able to access technology that reinforces skills and enable higher level learning. A Chromebook helps students who are kinesthetic and visual learners open up the doors of education and individualize their learning experiences. The Chromebook will become a tool that will help create more authentic learning experiences in the classroom, as well as build twenty first century skills that our children need in order to be successful in a quickly evolving technical world. They will be able to create both independent and collaborative projects in order to show true understanding of concepts.
Chromebooks are integral and amazing tools that should be present in every classroom.
Without consistent access to technology, my students are not able to access 21st century skills. I believe that they should not be held back because of lack of funds, but deserve to explore and learn on the same level as students who have this access. Our classroom will be forever changed by the addition of Chromebooks. All students will be able to access learning through technology on a daily basis.
My students are still recovering from Hurricane Harvey and the school budget limits the money for technology. On top of the destruction from Harvey, we were recently hit again with Imelda. Please help me to give my students something to smile about again!
