This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our students are unique and driven. Even though they come from a variety of backgrounds we speak positive things into each of their lives and expect them to accomplish great things. Our Title I elementary school is family knit, and we try our best to be there for each other and help where we can. Families at our school may not have much, but they do have a school and community that cares. It’s all about working towards a goal.
My Project
Reading to a child, and allowing them to flip through the pages to study the illustrator's images, makes a great impact on their tiny brains.
What books do you wish you had when you were younger?
I wish I had The Remember Balloons which is so beautifully written about a child who watches their grandparent battle with Alzheimer's. I lost my great grandmother to this disease when I was young. The book, One Wave at a Time, is a great resource that helps me to talk through grief with my students and their parents. Other delightful books that I have chosen speak on confidence, self-control, being truthful, and owning who you are as an individual. Will you help me get these books to my students and their families via social media readings? I know they will both love and appreciate these special story times. I appreciate you and your willingness to give. Thank you!
