My students are from a small, rural town in North Florida, and go to a Title 1 school. For many of them school is the only place where they have items needed to foster learning. I teach Kindergarten , and am always looking for ways to differentiate the instruction and reach all levels of learners.
Many of the students who come through my classroom are not visual or auditory learners; but like to learn in a tactile or kinesthetic way, so moving and manipulating objects are how they learn best.
My Project
My students practice standards that I have taught during center time. My students practice counting, adding, subtracting, and number bonds during centers. My students need new and exciting centers to help continue to practice these standards while making it fun and refreshing. They are at various levels of instruction. The new centers such as the Counting Boxes and Numbers and Counting File Folder Games will help my students that still need practice with counting. Moreover, The Market Math Hands-On learning center and the I Can Build It! Architecture center will challenge my on/ higher level students. The Plants and Animals Activity Tins will help reinforce the science standards already taught.
The donations to my project will help give my students new and engaging ways to practice the Math and Science standards that they need.
My students rotate through centers everyday. I want my students to love going to centers. This will help make learning fun by having new and engaging centers for my students to use.
