This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have a great opportunity to touch lives on a daily basis. Third grade is a pivotal point for young children. They are growing up and learning new things. My children come to me with little or no background knowledge, many have not traveled far from their neighborhoods. I am excited to broaden their horizon.
A student told me, "You're really teaching us something." Everyday my students make me realize that I made the right choice to become a teacher.
It makes my day when they build upon what they learned in previous years or make connections to new lessons.
My Project
Many of my students are not able to bring pencils and erasers all year. Pencils and erasers are key needed from the first day of school to the last. I would like all students to have access to a pencil and eraser all year. Some students ask to bring classroom pencils home to complete homework. Also, they ask for their siblings as well.
How can we write without a pencil?
Third graders are expected to become proficient in writing. We can not meet this expectation if we run out of pencils and erasers two months into the school year. Help me help develop my young authors. I appreciate you investing in us.
