Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Eager, kind, and savvy. These are a few words that describe my students. They are your average children that carry their individual background on their shoulders.
While my students may experience the toughest life experiences one can go through at the age of 10, they smile at the hope they find at school.
97% of my students come from low income families. The diversity in my classroom varies from Hispanic to African American to Filipino backgrounds. The amount of discussions and ideas are enhanced through their rich cultures they bring into my classroom.
My Project
Having my students teach at the front of the classroom is a way that benefits myself and the learning going on. My students love being mini-teachers for the day and also love to race against each other in constructive ways.
When my students go to the whiteboard, I am able to gage their understanding, but they are also able to learn from each other.
With these materials, my students will be able to grab and go when completing individual work on their whiteboards or race to the board without worrying if their marker will work or not. Having the right tools such as markers, a sharpener, and whiteboards allows for more engaged learning rather than the worry if their tool will work.
