Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the world's best job of teaching a classroom full of kindergartners! They are super cute, sweet, creative, full of energy, and always ready to share a smile and a hug. They love books, storytime, hands-on learning, and learning new things!
I love how curious my students are about the world around them and how much they love kindergarten!
Our school is located in the inner-city where all of our students receive a free breakfast and lunch. Dr. Seuss once wrote, "Kid, you can move mountains! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!" My students have some pretty big mountains to move, but I know they can do it. My students often have to work harder to learn things, but once they get it, they are ready to help one of their friends. My students inspire me every day!
My students deserve the best that I can give them. My goal is to create an amazing learning environment to encourage them to reach their fullest potential!
Thank you for your consideration!
My Project
My kindergarteners use their Chromebooks daily. While using their devices, students use an intervention program. In this program, my five and six year old students need to use a mouse to click or drag items around the screen as a way of completing the activities. Dragging items has proven to be especially challenging with the mouse pads on the chromebooks. Students cannot keep enough pressure on the mouse pad while also moving their fingers to move what they are dragging.
If my students can each be supplied with a wireless mouse, they will be able to focus more on developing their academic skills and less on the challenge of how to use the mouse.
These items would greatly reduce the frustration some of my students feel when they have tried repeatedly to operate the mouse pad.
