Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students come from a small town deep in the heart of South Texas that was greatly affected by Hurricane Harvey. Even though many of them come from very low socioeconomic backgrounds and lost everything in the hurricane, their resilience and bravery allows them to still come to school every day with smiles on their faces that show us they are ready to learn.
They are imaginative, compassionate, considerate, curious and full of questions!
They absolutely love hands-on and engaging projects that challenge them to think outside the box. They bravely come to school each day ready to try new things and take chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are our inspiration!
My Project
Our students have been blessed to receive brand new Chromebooks this year; however, they are using them for testing and need a mouse to in order to use them. They have little hands and some of them lack enough hand eye coordination to accurately choose an answer in the quick five seconds allotted for a choice. The wireless mice we choose are small enough and ergonomic for their tiny little hands to use. The mice also require batteries so we are purchasing enough batteries to power the them and to have some for replacements when needed. We are grateful for the opportunity for our students to be able to have access to such amazing technology.
