My Students

Being a kid can be hard, but when you do not have the emotional understanding to express your feelings, it can cause behavioral problems. My classroom is a safe space for students to learn how to deal with their emotions, trauma and social skills.

My class is made up of students from various grade levels and ability levels.

We work hard to fill in learning gaps and have students reach grade level. My students are dealing with emotional issues that make it hard for them to handle frustration with tasks and need a lot of individual attention.

By learning to work independently and with purpose, my students will have the chance to mainstream into other classrooms with their peer groups. Our biggest goal with my students is for them to learn not only to control their emotions but to learn how to be students. Modeling good classroom routines and tasks is important for them to master and move back into general education classrooms.

My Project

It’s that time of year where our school supplies are starting to have seen better days. We are moving into researching for our wonder projects and need binders to hold our reasearch, notebooks to hold our thinking and snacks to keep us going. We are also heading into colder weather so tissues are needed to sooth our noses. Glue, and markers have run dry with all the Visiaul learning we have created. Students have been working very heard at showing what they have learned through drawing, building models and visual math problems. Because we are a mixed needs and abilities classroom we need plastic storage bags to hold our visual aids and munipulatives for our individual learning goals.

This year more than any other year, I have seen my students soar in the area of behavior and academics.

This has meant that more supplies have been needed faster then in other years. My students have created lapbooks about their favorite books, artwork of their favorite holiday activities or parts of the year, and are reaching things that they wonder about. These supplies are needed to help the learning continue through the Spring semesters.
