My Students
We are a Prekindergarten class located in the South Bronx, within one of it's poorest community districts. Our program works with mostly shelter and low income families, so homelessness is a real concern to us all. The Pre-K program is an essential part of our community. It provides young children the opportunity to gain a solid foundation for which all other academic development will occur.
We are a very culturally diverse community of educators who strives everyday to create an environment that supports the daily essential needs of our young students, so creating a highly diverse classroom atmosphere is challenging, but will always be the driving force behind our dedication.
My Pre-Kindergarten Team is constantly seeking activities that focuses on getting the children to use their imagination and allow open ended questions to fuel their quest for knowledge. We also have to ensure their physical needs are being met too.
As their teachers, it is our job to support our students in a way that their education is not being hindered by just what we know, but is being fostered by activities and experiences that are fueled by their own need to understand the world around around them.
My Project
The Fruit of the Loom and other undergarments will be given to our students to ensure they have clean and fresh clothing to wear to school under their uniforms. Many of our children have little food so basic needs such as clean socks and T shirts are not a top priority to our families.
With your donations, we can assure that our students feel comfortable and ready to work, cause their basic needs such as clothing are being met, thus allowing them to begin their educational journey feeling confident!
We know most people think that basic clothing are things that everyone has, well it's just not true! Our little ones need all the guidance and help that can be given. Our communities need individuals such as yourselves to ensure that one more child succeeds.
