My students need the Kid's Rain Forest Kongas to create important opportunities for hands-on learning through music, that will greatly expand students’ practical knowledge of basic musical skills!
A twice a week music program directly enhances student learning and educational opportunities by putting instruments and multicultural lessons into the hands of approximately 400 students per week.
Several hundred students will benefit from playing these instruments as they are lovingly used for many years to come in connection with a variety of multicultural lessons, school programs, co-curricular activities and diverse educational opportunities.
This opportunity positively impacts student experience and enjoyment through music education as we work – and drum – together to build a strong sense of community and ensure a safe and successful school environment in the 2018-‘19 school year and well into the future.
My Project
Experience with world drumming will directly enhance student learning and educational opportunities by putting world drums into the hands of approximately 400 students in the 2018-‘19 school year alone.
The kid-size konga will allow students to participate in co-curricular activities throughout the school and the city with an instrument that's just the right size!
At the conclusion of these lessons, students’ educational opportunities will be expanded through a personal learning experience that encourages them to explore, innovate and build upon their musical skills. In addition, they will have a newfound knowledge of multi-cultural values, a deeper understanding of the foundations of music and the critical thinking skills needed to compare and contrast traditional and contemporary styles and musical rhythms.
