Help me give my students Teacher Pay Teacher gift cards to be used to purchase hands-on, specialized learning materials that will be assembled and delivered to students to assist in distance learning.
I am in my fifth year teaching special education. This is my fourth year teaching the CARES K-2nd grade program, which serves the highest need, special education students in our district. Our students have a variety of disabilities that interfere with their education, which requires specific teaching strategies that allow them to learn based on their strengths.
My students work hard every day to learn and as teachers, we work hard to meet their varied and ever-changing needs which have become even more important (and difficult!) during this Coronavirus outbreak.
They do not learn well from paper activities, nor are they able to benefit well from online learning platforms. They need hands-on materials to engage their learning, life skills development and motor activities.
My Project
I teach special education students in the CARES program. They have highly specific needs resulting from severe disabilities such as autism, medical complications, and behavioral issues. For my students, we have no standard curriculum, but rather it is up to myself as the teacher to locate, develop, or create curriculum materials that help my students learn.

From TPT, I can acquire items that will help me as a teacher improve my ability to teach literacy to my students. Some of the specific resources that will be purchased with this gift card include task box activities that can be assembled and delivered to my students to continue ELearning, materials to help parents set up structured learning and routines at home, home-based learning materials that will help families engage with their student as they learn, and programs that combine math, literacy and subject matter in order to create materials which are readily teachable to students by parents.
