Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a TK-8 Tech Integration Coach for a small school district, I have the opportunity every week to work with multiple grade levels across our four elementary schools. I love teaching tech integration lessons and collaborating with other teachers while working with a wide age range of students. Every day is exciting!
What amazes me about our students is their willingness to explore new tools, collaborate with classmates and teachers, showcase their creativity and critical thinking skills and problem solve issues that arise.
My Project
This year, I've had the opportunity to teach 3D design to students ranging from kindergarten up to middle school. Using programs like Tinkercad, students have learned the basics of 3D design to create objects for measuring volume in math class or robots to celebrate National Robotics Week. Students have shown great excitement for 3D designing.
I am requesting a 3D Printer, so that next school year we can begin printing student designs to be used for lessons, projects, presentations, school events and school needs.
I envision students designing and printing major American landmarks for social studies class, supplies for their science class, projects for art presentations and solutions for school needs.
This hands on, artistic, creative and engaging opportunity will better prepare them to be successful students in their 21st century education.
