Mrs. Minor from Hempstead TX is requesting classroom basics through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need these pencils, pencil sharpener and markers to be successful through out the rest of the year.

I am a teacher in a low income, high poverty school district where my students are faced with new challenges in and out of the classroom everyday. Despite the many challenges they face they are still at school. I am looking to make this the best place for them to grow and learn in a safe and well stocked classroom.
For many students, getting to school on a daily basis is an achievement in and of itself.
Whether they are helping out with siblings, waking up on their own, or struggling to get out of bed after a poor night's sleep...sometimes a pencil and their homework is the last thing on their mind. This project will help to alleviate that stress.
This project will provide supplies for our classroom so that we can continue to grow and learn in the world of literacy. In our class we write in every subject to increase our reading and writing skills. Your generous donation to our project will improve our 2nd grade classroom by building a stronger reader and writer.
This will change our students' lives for the better because they will love school and feel success at an early age --- and being prepared and well supplied while learning!
My students can not afford the basic daily supplies needed to perform their task. Giving low-income students access to these supplies is an investment in their future. The pencil sharpener will help reduce the time we spend sharpening our pencils as well as the pre sharpened pencils. Students will use the dry erase markers during small group writing and also during center time.
