If You Build It, They Will Come...to the Sensory Garden!
Help me give my students the beautiful butterfly bench to compliment our new sensory garden. In this space, students are able to explore, take risks and discover all the magic of the the amazing outdoors on their own!

We are a small, but fierce, multilingual campus in the heart of Texas. We learn and speak, in not two, but three languages every day! Our unique campus is home to a double dual language program. Our dedicated scholars learn and speak in English, Spanish and Mandarin. Much of our students go home to apartments located in the heart of the city, inconveniently located from parks and communal green spaces and only enjoy the outdoors during the school day.
With such diverse language opportunities offered in the classroom, it is only makes sense that our scholars were offered the same diverse opportunities in our campus garden.
Throughout the school day students are constantly answering request from teachers. Request to do this, request to do that. Whatever it is, students are constantly asked or told what they need to do. The one place that students should be absolutely free, is in our school garden. I want to build safe and interactive space where students do not need to follow rules, or schedules.
I want to build a sensory garden where our students are welcome and encouraged to be explorers, risk takers where they can discover the endless beauty in the world around them.
Our students deserve the opportunity to discover what a bees hmm sounds like with their eyes closed. I want our students to sit and wonder why a daisy is yellow, or why do ants travel in a straight line. With these materials, it will help transfer our vegetable and flower garden into a garden that tickles our senses.
