This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a very diverse county with students aging from 4 to 11 years old. I am a pioneer in the new STEAM program and am excited to begin this process at my school. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. My students are great thinkers and they love hands-on activities, engaging projects, and challenges that require them to think outside of the box. The STEAM lab that I am establishing will give my students the opportunity to explore their questions and creative process. I also provide a resource for teachers to elaborate and extend learning opportunities outside of the classroom.
What students learn becomes who they are.
I want them to become problem solvers and global thinkers. I am excited to embark on this journey with my school, teachers, and all of my students!
My Project
I am requesting the Q-Ba-Maze for my students to be able to explore and design structures to study machines and to take part in the building and redesign process in our new STEAM classroom.
"You can´t use up creativity, the more you use, the more you have" -Maya Angelou
My students are wonderful thinkers, and would love to have more tools to use to explore and solve problems. The future of our society is going to depend on their ability to engineer and design! I want to help prepare them from a young age, and expose them to wonderful tools and materials to get their minds going!
