My Students

Our school has a large population of low-income students, although this has not diminished my students love of learning! My students love to be challenged. They're curious about the world around them and try to seek out ways to learn.

Our Title I status reduces the amount of funds we have for items that enhance our teaching and provide learning opportunities for our students.

Our students do not get to experience Art or Music classes, and have limited resources for technology. Time for Kids Magazine would be a much needed resource.

My Project

A subscription to "Time for Kids" will allow my students to have access to high quality informational text. This type of text is hard to find on the level needed for young students to read & comprehend. However, this engaging magazine provides articles that are based on topics that are of high interest to kids.

Making this type of reading material available to my students will increase their interest in reading and interacting with text while practicing needed skills.

With access to this magazine I can plan lessons and activities around articles that provide engaging learning opportunities that make learning fun and interesting. These articles will provide a resource for my students to actually practice the skills they learn in a real world experience.
