Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I'm sure this has been said and heard time and time again, but my students are "my kids." Each year is a special and unique group, but they always have one thing in common; my students need to feel loved and important.
Math and reading are essential, but my biggest job is to make sure my kiddos are confident and kind leaders.
I want them to know that there are people out in this world rooting for them. I hope my classroom is a place of fun, comfort and lots of rich experiences.
My kiddos come from great families, but families that work and work just to make ends meet. The majority of my students have a life where they "get what they need" and rarely "what they want."
With that being said, if you were able to look in my classroom, you are going to see fresh smiles every morning. You will see kiddos that love life and are eager to learn unless it is Monday morning writing.
Just know, if you choose us, you are supporting a beyond wonderful group of fourth graders.
My Project
Growing up, I always dreamed of being a teacher. From a young age, I thought of the teacher I wanted to be and the type of classroom environment I wanted. I knew I wanted a classroom that everyone loved. I still aspire to make these dreams come true.
I am asking for items to make a "dream classroom." I listen to request from my kiddos, ask fellow teachers for "highlights" in their rooms and research motivating classroom environments.
For those reasons, I am asking for flexible seating options and classroom decorations. Students will use the alternative seating options for various activities. This keeps the students engaged and not stuck in a desk all day. The decorations will be used to create a creative writing wall and a showcase board.
I believe creating a classroom that students love, will increase student engagement and motivation. I want to create a "home" where my kiddos feel comfortable, loved and happy.
