My third graders are inquisitive, creative students who love a good STEM investigation! They work together to solve problems by researching, brainstorming, designing, and testing solutions.
Our school is a rural Title I school where the majority of students live in poverty and do not have access to materials at home to create and build the designs they dream of.
I have watched children think, design, and build their creations and then proudly explain and demonstrate how their creation works. No child should be denied these hands-on opportunities to express their creativity!
Thank you so much for helping to give our class the gift of learning!
My Project
STEM investigations are an engaging way to introduce students to the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The investigations consist of solving a problem, such as building a tool that will harvest pumpkins efficiently or a vehicle that is powered by wind. Students work collaboratively to brainstorm, sketch a design blueprint, and then build a model. They use supplies such as LEGO bricks, K'NEX blocks, Magformers, and other items to build a model of their design.
We are in need of these fun and engaging materials for our hands-on learning.
We are also in need of engaging books and stories about inspirational people, such as William Kamkwamba, Temple Grandin, and George W. Ferris who have solved real-world problems and are role models for students!
