My students need Young Science Club Forces, Magnetism, Electricity, and the Tornado/Cloud/Water Cycle Kits so they can get hands on experience with these scientific concepts.
My students are amazing kids who need the chance to not only learn from books but from working together. We want to provide our students with a chance to learn how to work with others and take charge of their learning.
Our school is a Title 1 school, which means we have a high population of underprivileged and at-risk students on top of recovering from Hurricane Harvey.
As many of these students work to recover from Hurricane Harvey, education was not the number one priority for the first semester. These students need effective and engaging resources to bridge the gaps in their learning.
They will use the resources to build independence in their learning while working in small groups together. This allows the teacher to work with small groups at the same time. Breaking students into small groups has been proven to be a very effective method to improve student learning. Students who are able to take charge of their own learning are more likely to continue their education through college.
Please help me provide them with engaging and effective resources.
My Project
Fourth grade is the year when students really begin to experience science in a lab environment. They need a hands on approach to truly understand the concepts taught. These Young Scientist Club Kits will give them the materials they need to start lab work.
Students should be able to experience science no matter their background.
My students are fighting to overcome the struggles of coming from low income families and Hurricane Harvey. They are intelligent kids who love to learn and need to be given opportunities to excel.
The Tornado, Clouds, and Water Cycle kit will allow my students to see what they are reading about. This will enable them to develop a deeper understanding.
Each of the science kits will be used in labs designed to make the science concepts come to "life" for my students. This will help prepare them for most complex science labs and concepts in the futures as well as given them a concrete understanding of the concepts they are currently learning.
