Welcome to the beginning of a lifetime of learning! That is the theme of my Kindergarten classroom where 22 five year olds begin to learn about this world, working together and using their creativity and reasoning skills to explore ideas that will lead to a life time of learning.
My classroom is a melting pot of ethnicity, economic status, ability levels and educational exposure but they all have one thing in common; they are excited to learn!
The beauty of teaching Kindergarten is that my students are like sponges, soaking in everything that I can expose them to. As a teacher, I must provide many different ways to meet the needs of my students while exposing them to all the mysteries of education.
My Project
My Kindergarten students love to build and what better way to encourage thinking, reasoning, and creative skills than through hands-on STEM and literature activities. With these STEM kits, my students will be able to make connections to familiar fairy tales as they collaborate on ways to make a sturdy bridge for the Billy Goats Gruff or help The Three Little Pigs build a strong house. My students will also be able to expand their imaginations and fine motor skills with the engineering and construction set. I am excited to see them expand and create new stories and projects using these STEM tools.
