Ms. Chris Sharp from Saint Louis MO is requesting a class trip through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students an amazing, full of learning outside the classroom, experience to Memphis to reward them for all of the hard work they are putting in everyday.

This year, we are fundraising to take high-achieving students on a trip to Memphis, Tennessee. These are students who show up to school every day to work hard and prepare themselves for an amazing future. They have to maintain above average grades, 90%+ attendance, and have no behavior infractions or referrals. These are students who, in short, go above and beyond.
According to a National Household Travel Survey (2009), low-income students in Atlanta, living in situations like my students, traveled an average of 15 miles away from their homes.
This statistic closely matches the experiences of many of my students. For this reason, and many more, we want to provide this experience for students. Being in Memphis, providing an experience to see a new city, eat new foods, and engage in different cultures is something that any student would benefit from.
On our one day trip to Memphis, students who have gone above and beyond will get to have the experience of a lifetime. We will be leaving at the wee hours of the morning to arrive in time to spend an amazing few hours at the National Civil Rights Museum. Students will have the opportunity to learn about Dr. King, the Civil Rights Movement, and more through this incredible, historic site. As we exit, we will move onward to lunch on Beale Street, another piece of history. Students will have time to explore and enjoy. To end our evening, we will be attending a Grizzlies v. Celtics NBA game before journeying the long way home.
To give students this opportunity is a dream, one for them and one for myself.
Many of my students have not left St. Louis, let alone the city. Venturing out to Memphis with them to experience such rich history and continuing to build meaningful relationships would be the coolest thing I could ever ask for.
