Hooray! This project is fully funded
Recess time is an important time for children to move and exercise. However, it is difficult to do this when our school cannot afford proper playground equipment.
Our students are of a low socioeconomic status.
We are a Title 1 school. We are an urban school in San Francisco, California and we desperately need equipment on our playground. Because our playground is on concrete and not on grass, our equipment does not last as long. Therefore, we have to replenish our playground equipment, so that the students can have a chance to play and be active.
My students need playground equipment such as soccer balls, sports balls and an air pump. My students will use the equipment every day during recess to play and move. Positive structured play is important for the development of all children. Children who move tend to be adults who move. In order to give a child a chance to move, play and have fun, schools need to have acceptable playground equipment.
This will make a difference because our students will be engaged during recess to play sports and games and not rough-house.
Active children make active adults, and children are active through play. Whether it be sports, or games, children move through play, and the playground is the perfect spot where children can create positive experiences with movement.
