I teach Early Childhood Special Education in a "Blended Model" classroom that serves two different populations of students. The goal of our program is that through early intervention we will prevent many future academic difficulties.
Chicago Public Schools have been conducting informative meetings this school year about how to make our preschool environment as conducive to learning and literacy as possible. Unfortunately, they have not provided any funding in order for us to implement all the new ideas and practices we have learned. We have made several changes in our room that we have been able to make with the current supplies. Unfortunately, we do not have enough chairs to sufficiently serve the new centers we have in our room. Donorschoose has supplied my classroom with many new materials including a brand new carpet and table. I have found a set of chairs from Lakeshore Learning that will match our furniture and make the learning environment comfortable for all learners! With the addition of just five new chairs our students will be able to choose the area they wish to play on and not have to worry that they may have to stand up because the chairs are being used in another area! Thank you so much for considering my proposal! I can assure you that my preschoolers will be grateful and appreciative that they will be able to sit at the computer and the writing table instead of uncomfortably standing up while they do their work!
