This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This area has a 90% poverty rate, and I teach at a Title I school. It is an outstanding performing arts school with talented students dedicated to bettering themselves and their artistic talent.
I want to ignite a lifelong passion for creating, appreciating, and talking about art with my students.
My students come from varied art backgrounds. Some did not have any formal art training in their primary and middle schools. Most have never been exposed to the variety of materials needed to become a successful, professional artist. They need to be exposed to different materials, mediums, and artists.
My Project
This project is trying to level the resource playing field. We are trying to build a classroom set of iPads and iPencils for digital art and drawing. Students will acquire observational, focus, discipline, collaboration skills while learning new things like digital art.
Students will use the iPad and iPencil for digital art with Procreate to create artwork in my digital art and drawing classes (our goal is one to one iPads).
Our class has set a goal, worked hard to partially reach this goal and it would be amazing if they could watch us succeed and reach or even surpass this goal! The students in my digital art and drawing classes are capable of amazing things.
