My students need an iPad to have more opportunities to practice content through academic online applications, like iReady and Reflex Math.

This school year, I will be teaching a group of about 21 fifth graders. I am eager for the first day of school because not only will this be my first year teaching fifth grade, but I taught them when they were third graders! I am very excited to be back with my kiddos and continuing to grow with them as scholars and members of their community.
Interacting with my students while they were fourth graders, I learned that they have all become increasingly curious and hungry for more knowledge and opportunities to test their inferences than they were in third.
I am anticipating my students to be inquisitive as they take on the new fifth grade curriculum. I want to make sure I can be prepared to meet all of their individual needs as learners throughout the various lessons we go through.
Practicing content is where my students build their academic muscle. Many of the times, online applications help drive home the content we learn during class!
My students will be able to practice their math facts and access online libraries for novels through the class iPad.
One online application my school specifically uses is called Reflex Math. My students can go on this application and practice their multiplication and division fluency. Another application is called MyOn, which is an online library where students can find and read books on countless topics, based on their reading level. This library app has definitely increased my students' interest in reading books, and I am excited to see their love of reading grow this year.
