Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a very diverse group of students My students are eager to excel in testing this year. Their positive attitude so far has been exciting to see. However, over half of my students are at-risk of not graduating and live in economically disadvantaged homes. This is even more-so the case after being affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Their first semester didn't go as well as hoped after Hurricane Harvey left us trying to rebuild.
Hurricane Harvey hit this school quite hard, and deeply affected all my students. Over 80% of my students are affected or knows someone who is. To get them excited about learning, being at school, and believing in themselves no matter their circumstances, there are resources I would like to have to foster that attitude.
My goal as a teacher is to foster a warm, firm, and welcoming learning environment. To be able to do that at the level I desire, there are resources (tools) that I would like to have. Achieving success in classroom requires many things, and these will go a long way in heading toward my goals.
My Project
My class will be able to go so much further applying what they have learned and being able to relate it to self and world using tablets. We will look up ways to be better citizens and how to help those around us. With your generosity, the classroom will be so much more hand-on and the students will be able to use self-discovery to find the answers they're looking for.
Two classroom tablets are needed to be able to utilize our in-class library check-in and out, along with completing research projects.
With their own tablets to work on, my students will be able to take ownership of their work and be eager to learn.
