Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In the middle of the valley, I want my students not to just climb mountains but move them. The students in our class come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and many of their families are English language learners. One hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite everything that one might consider a disadvantage, we try to instill hard work, we encourage them to dream big, and we teach kindness in order for them to overcome their challenges and be successful lifelong learners who will pay it forward.
We are a fourth grade class with big hopes and dreams.
In their final years of elementary school, our students are leaders on campus - role models and peer supporters. While still learning valuable content such as reading, writing, and math, students are learning soft skills such as proper handshaking, how to carry on a conversation, and how to ask questions.
My Project
We are asking for your help to get a class iPad. The iPad would be used several ways. We would use it as a digital white board so students can see work modeled by the teacher. We would record videos of mini lessons for students to access during asynchronous instruction or days when students can't get into live instruction due to internet issues.
We are trying every way to help our students connect digitally and provide opportunities for students to access at home learning.
The iPad will be used as a data collection tool, document memories throughout the year and a way to connect with parents. Please consider helping us get a classroom iPad so we can continue to navigate through this digital learning time.
