Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My classroom is filled with curious, creative learners.
They are in 1st grade and are building the foundations to become lifelong learners. Inside the school, they are safe. When they leave, a number of my kids don't know when they will get their next meal, or unfortunately, even where they will sleep that night. But when they come to school, they know they are safe, loved, and can rely on any teacher to give them a snack when they are hungry.
My classroom is an escape from fear and judgment where students let their creativity guide them as they soar through adventures in learning. Reading is a big part of this; it has become an "escape." My students love to hear stories and are in the process of learning to read. The iPads will be used to enhance their literacy skills, reading comprehension, and phonics basics through educational apps.
90% of my students are on free/reduced lunch program. I have 60% English Learners. They entered my classroom in the fall at an 80% at-risk rate.
My Project
The iPads will be used to enhance their literacy skills, reading comprehension, and phonological awareness skills through educational apps. We will use these tools daily. My emergent readers easily get discouraged when they don't understand the books they are reading. These students need an audio aid to guide them through their reading adventures and turn a frustrating moment into a fun and engaging experience.
This project was created to aid my students in reaching their potential.
A lot of children are kinesthetic learners and require more than just seeing or hearing to understand. This type of learner needs the ability to interact with a story to fully comprehend material. This project will sky-rocket my students learning!
