My students need an Apple iPod Nano, Classroom CD/Cassette Player with Bluetooth, Student Rekenreks, Light Table Pegs and Peg Boards, a Wind Tunnel Discovery Center and other discovery and learning tools.
Maria Montessori once stated, “Early childhood education is the key to the betterment of society.” As a kindergarten teacher, I truly believe our students are the promise for the future. We must foster such hope and promise by providing a supportive and meaningful learning environment for our young children.
I teach 27 inquisitive and wonderful students who love to discover and learn.
We are a Title 1 school and our district is being faced with many budget cuts. My students have a wide range of experiences and learning backgrounds. Many of the students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they may face, my class is full of eager learners. My students are energetic, full of love, and want to learn, but need more technology and hands-on activities! Please help support our promise for the future!
My Project
Kindergarten students are eager to explore. They love learning and discovering the world around them. The foundation of kindergarten is based on concrete learning through play and exploration. The materials requested will help students explore the areas of technology, math, language arts, science and dramatic play. I am requesting an Apple iPod Nano and CD /Cassette Player with Bluetooth which will help to facilitate a multisensory learning experience and energize learning activities. The technology resources will promote mental, physical and emotional growth. I am requesting math materials that will focus on counting, addition, subtraction, and number recognition. The rekenreks will be perfect for hands-on math activities. The rekenreks will help to introduce students to counting to 20, comparing numbers, decomposing numbers, addition and subtraction. I am requesting language arts materials that will promote letter and sound identification, word building and sound substitutions. The Wind Tunnel Discovery Center will help to develop skills in making observations, exploring cause and effect, and testing predictions. I am requesting materials that will help encourage dramatic play and involvement through the use of tactile manipulatives. The areas of technology, math, science, language arts and dramatic play will be enhanced by hands-on centers, exploration and physical activity.
Our class project will create a wonderful opportunity for hands-on discovery of the core learning skills.
The resources you provide will help to foster a learning environment that strengthens the foundational skills needed to promote well-rounded learners. Also, the resources will help to challenge all students through differentiation of instruction and support. This project will be just the right fit to increase my students’ ability to discover new things, explore and learn. Our class project will be an integral part of our everyday learning.
