My students need their own copy of the book called Wonder! This will not only help them build their reading stamina but also help them learn how they can learn to be kind to others around them.

My Students
I teach at a Title I school surrounded by a tight knit community that is well vested in the education of the children at our school. With the nearby University, we have a wide range of students who come from different economic backgrounds and cultures. We have students that come from families where the main caregiver are grandparents or aunts and uncles.
I teach a Special Education resource class of ten 3rd and 4th graders.
These students come to school everyday excited to learn. They are not able to learn or function independently in the general education setting. They come to my classroom where I provide specific task modifications to help them feel successful. I serve them during their Math and Language Arts block which takes up the majority of their day. Despite their special needs to learn, they come to school with a positive attitude and a love for learning.
My Project
As a Resource teacher, I have the opportunity to be able to pop into different classes and service my students in their General Education classes. I was able to sit in as a teacher read a little from the book titled "Wonder". At completion of the book, the students were able to watch the movie. This was a great learning experience for not only the students, but for myself as well. I know this book will help my students appreciate who they are and to appreciate those around them as well.
By donating to our project, these students will have the opportunity to love reading and learning from a student who goes through the same thing that they might go through and learn how to deal with it.
