My students are always excited about learning! They love to read and do research over new ideas. They are active inquirers who enjoy getting lost in the world of literature.
My school is in the heart of the city.
I think it is the best location ever for a school. We are within walking distance of many landmarks and regularly take walking field trips.
The school is an International Baccalaureate K-8 Public School Program. We work to develop a community of respectful, life long learners, who use inquiry, critical thinking, and problem solving skills to be socially responsible contributors to a changing global society.
If you visited you would find a building filled with amazing students and teachers that care deeply about learning. The students are curious and are filled with questions. They willingly research to find answers and are always excited to share new-found knowledge with their peers.
My Project
The novels requested will help my students have resources that are needed to develop a stronger reading workshop in the classroom. They will be able to work in small groups to facilitate book clubs and ask deeper questions over what they are reading.
Using novels to teach reading helps promote a positive reading environment and helps prepare students to become more engaged in reading.
The novel will help my students use real-world text to learn specific reading skills such as character development and multiple perspectives. The novel will also help teach empathy which will help build a stronger community in the classroom.
The goal is for students to become a lifelong reader and develop a passion for reading. Implementing this novel into our classroom's reading workshop will help to develop this goal for all students.
