Help me give my students a classroom set of a new bestselling book! The book, Wonder, teaches many positive character education lessons and could help improve literacy skills at the same time.
My students are creative, inquisitive, eager learners who have a passion for reading! These 4th graders are continuously meeting their reading goals and challenging themselves to go further. I'm very proud at their hard work so far this year. Being from a low socioeconomic area, many students don't have the opportunity to read books that aren't provided by the school or local library. Providing new and relevant books would be a great opportunity for them. This book is centered around being kind. Kindness is the number one rule in my classroom. While my students do an amazing job at being kind to each other I feel this book could help them have a different perspective and be even more compassionate than they already are.
My Project
By having a class set of the book, Wonder, my students will be able to read and discuss relevant topics with their peers. They will be able to further grow their love of reading and increase their reading skills. Students will complete projects while reading this book that will help them grow not only as readers, but also writers. I feel like this book is very relatable to today's students and will help my struggling readers find joy in reading. This book teaches lessons beyond the classroom. It shows the value of being kind and the importance of having a positive mindset. I truly want the best for my students and want my students to be the best version of themselves they can be. I feel like reading and discussing this book as a class could have a positive impact on them, not only academically, but socially as well.
