I teach a class of twenty-four amazing first grade students in a diverse Title I community located in the inner-city, in one of the largest cities in the country, where all students received free breakfast and lunch.
My students, like many around the country, have had their worlds turned upside down by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our state's PAUSE order came so quickly that many of us were not prepared to teach from home for the remainder of the school year. All school supplies and workbooks were all left in our classroom.
To help them overcome the challenges they currently face at home, I am eager to provide them with meaningful instruction and interaction to support their at-home learning!
As an educator, having a reliable and updated computer is essential. It helps me stay in close contact with my little learners, their families, and my colleagues during this unprecedented time.
This computer allows me to have a greater impact and to provide the level of support my students and families need!
I'll be able to create and post their weekly assignments, record and upload my daily read-aloud, and progress monitor their learning on our current online platforms. More importantly, it enables me to connect with the world, by engaging in regular live video chats with my students, their families, and colleagues.
Your passion for making an impact will ensure that all 24 of my little learners have a teacher that's equipped with a reliable and updated computer. Thank you for supporting my first graders and their education. May you stay healthy and safe during these very uncertain times.
