Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Henry Thoreau said, "This world is but a canvas to our imagination." My students firmly enact this quote. We believe in art, our best is good enough. My students do their best in their crafts. They want to be the best artists possible. They work very hard at their projects to make them inspired.
My students are second grade English Language Learners from a Title I (High Needs, High Poverty) school.
As a result, we have very few funds to provide resources for our students. Moreover, I have had to go out and seek out certain resources for my students. I would love to be able to see each of my students' smile when they see all of their new art supplies showcased and ready for them to use.
My students cannot wait for their chance to get their creative juices flowing and use different resources to innovate new projects. I want to take full advantage of their enthusiasm, nourish it and provide them the chance to improve their artistic skills as well as their ingenuity.
My Project
One problem which faces every teacher who is planning a field trip is how to monitor all of their students. Many teachers enlist the help of parent volunteers. This solution has one major drawback. Not every parent will recognize every child in the class and vice versa. The lanyard can provide a means of instantly indicating to both groups who is who. Furthermore, these same lanyards can be used to carry name tags, which makes recognition even simpler.
As a result, teachers can benefit from having the children use craft lace to create their own individual pattern. The children could also design different lanyards for fundraising. In this way, we can generate extra funds for other projects. The children's ingenuity will provide the class with funds and teach children entrepreneurial skills for which they will utilize in their future.
I am requesting craft lace and hooks to allow my students the chance to participate in this project.
I believe giving children ownership over their actions empowers them to be better individuals.
I have found that it encourages them to work harder and be more creative amongst themselves. As a result, this new project will encourage more innovation among the children and inspire them to create more. Since creativity is so prevalent among all aspects of the curriculum, I really want them to prevail in this aspect of their education.
