My students need a touchscreen laptop to utilize in groups and individually to create stories together, create and run music videos within the classroom and participate actively in lessons.
My students are 3, 4 and 5-year-olds some who are having their very first school experience and I want to make a lasting impression that some lessons are useful for a long healthy, fit and happy life like physical activity.
We are in a very large urban school district of 40,000 who 100% qualify as living near, at or below the poverty level.
Poverty is a challenge district-wide and we have a few extra struggles in our grouping. The majority of our students are English language learners and near half are diagnosed with a disability. My students live in a large city where the sense of a caring community and environmental health can be difficult to find. Even with the challenges we face, we still love life, are eager to learn, to make it better world and are in need of your support to succeed.
My Project
Having this laptop will allow students to create on the screen with pictures, personal writing, and videos for sharing with peers, parents, guests and other building grade levels students.
This laptop will adapt to the different needs of student.
For example, some students can type on the keyboard and others can write on the screen.
The prekindergarten students' needs and desires to create and share will be met with the device we seek to implement in our classroom for furthering our creative sides and access to developing learning song videos, story books, and displays of class activities. We are creative and eager in prekindergarten and providing the tools will reinforce these desires in hopes of the creativeness and drive continue for years to come.
