This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a third grade teacher in East New York, Brooklyn. The school I teach in is P.S. 345, a shortage school in Brooklyn. Over 90% of the students receive free lunch. The majority of the students in the school work below grade level. As the new school year is approaching, I am trying to come up with more tools and strategies for my students. I came across this wonderful kit that builds students reading skills. This kit would be of great usage in my classroom. The kit is called Scholastic Reading Skills Kit. This kit will give my students the skills, strategies, and test taking practice they will need to succeed in third grade. This kit will engage all my students because it has different topics and selections. This will also motivate many of my reluctant students. The best part of this kit is that is has different levels which makes it a flexible learning tool for my students to use. All my students in the class will be able to use and gain knowledge from the kit. Not only will my regular class get use out of this kit, but I will also be able to allow my after school students to use the kit as well. This kit will be used by many students, but primarily my regular class. The kit can be incorporated anytime during the classroom day. It will be a part of our daily reading routine, as well as an activity they may do when they finish their other work early.
