I need to pay for food and transportation to attend this conference to collaborate with other educators and learn new ways to support the diverse learners in my class.
This project expired on June 10, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
I teach in a low-income, high-mobility school that is 100% Title I. This means all of our children receive free breakfast and lunch during the school day. My students are sweet and crave positive interactions and for someone to show a genuine interest in them. They are eager to learn new things love to share what they have learned with others. These students need positive role models in their lives to introduce them to the wonders of the world around them.
“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn” ― Benjamin Franklin.
I have been working with children and families for more than twenty years. I have found every year there is something I can improve, another way I can do something in the classroom, a better way to assess my students' skills and engage them in classroom activities.
I am requesting funds to allow for food and gas to attend the National I Teach Second Grade Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. I was blessed to receive funding for a professional development project through DonorsChoose.org. The retreat will provide three days of workshops for second grade teachers in all academic areas and of differentiating to support English language learners and special education. After attending this retreat, I will be able to create lesson plans that will directly help my students achieve their goals.
I need to attend this national conference to learn new strategies for teaching reading, math, and writing skills to my students so that I can better prepare them for success in third grade.
