This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of bright third graders that love to learn.

My students are smart, creative and outgoing.

However, they don't have the same opportunities as others their age. These group of students come from low income households that have been affected by Harvey. They are in need of the basics such as food and shelter, which there have been numerous donations to provide for them, but they also need to feed their minds and to keep reading.

My Project

The ETA Hand to Mind Fluency Kit contains the necessary materials to make daily number talks and number strings more meaningful.

My students will be able to understand and apply math concepts by seeing them modeled and being able to manipulate numbers.

A student's fluency in numbers does influence their number sense.

Their math fluency and number sense will be positively impacted by seeing concrete examples of the concepts they are learning. The lesson cards included on this kit, along with the manipulatives and the different ways of showing the students, will give them a better example of what each concept covers.
