Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school saying is, "Better today than yesterday! Better tomorrow than today!" I want to make their tomorrow better!
My class consists of a diverse group of learners.
My class has 26 second grade students of varying abilities. The socio-economic background of our students is reflected by our 97% free and reduced-price lunch rate.
I teach in an urban inner city school rich with diversity. Most of my students need additional learning materials to meet grade level expectations. Please help me to make tomorrow better for them!
My Project
My students are enthusiastic learners from all over the world. We have many different nationalities in our classroom. We enjoy learning together about each others nationality and cultural differences.
Our world is so colorful and diverse!
Our world is made up of different types of people, places, and things. I want my students to learn about different cultures and places in the world.
We will use the multicultural crayons, face cutouts, and kid cut outs to create puppets about different characters in our stories. We will listen to the Favorite Picture Book Library to learn about different places and characters in our world.
We will listen to the STEM Stories Library to learn about different professions in the STEM fields. Then our class will create themselves becoming one of these professionals with the multicultural crayons and Kid cut outs. They will depict themselves as an Architect, Engineer, Scientist, or Mathematician.
It is important for my students in the inner city to be exposed to STEM careers at an early age. The more they learn about STEM careers the more they will want to study to become a STEM professional in the future. I like to instill in them that with hard work anything is possible.
I am hoping to spark an interest for students to become future Scientists, Engineers, Mathematicians and Architects.
