My Students

Do you remember show and tell? My students complete a lot of hands-on projects in class but it is difficult for students to present them to the whole class. My students need to follow along with me as I show them how to dissect or what they should see in the microscope.

My students are from a small rural public school in Mississippi.

Our school is so small that most are involved in several extracurricular activities. My students get along well with each other and are eager to learn. They enjoy hands-on activities and technology.

My Project

I know this document camera will help improve my students' learning. I attended a science educational workshop during this past summer where I learned how important participation and accountability is to learning. Students presenting notes, drawings, pH indicators, hand-made models, or solved equations on a screen after being randomly called keeps the learners interest and attention and makes students active, responsible learners. Seeing the misconceptions helps me as the teacher catch the mistake before those misconceptions keep getting propagated.

My students are biology, chemistry, physical science, and physics students.

We need more students going into the field of science. Any way I can show them the joy of learning science will inspire more of them to pursue a career in science.
