This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I am always on the lookout for new books that reflect my students, their families, their friends, and the world we all inhabit together. And just like the world constantly changes, so do the books needed to mirror my students. By creating a truly expansive selection of titles, I can open new doors for my students that will ignite new passions, grow friendships, and make them better citizens of this planet we share.
Over time I have found that some of my students seem to think some doors are forever closed to them because of where they come from; books are often the step in showing them just how untrue that is!
