Our kindergarten is full of energetic and enthusiastic students. The children are coming from very diverse backgrounds. Many of our kindergarten students are experiencing school for the first time.
Giving all of our students the foundational skills to become strong readers is a key.
We want to be sure all of our students get the skills needed to be readers. Utilizing best practices from research based Science of Reading (SOR) we want to be sure our students have a strong phonics base to truly become readers, so as they reach 3rd grade they are now reading to learn.
My Project
The resources to help us purchase these books for our kindergartners will not only help our kindergarten students to see themselves in books but also help them to build their social emotional skills. Reading to our students everyday helps them to experience the world in new ways.
Giving students access to books that have characters just like them opens their eyes to grow and explore.
The new books for the classroom library will help all the students to learn how to deal with their emotions and understand others just like them have the same feelings.
