Help me give my students 2 iPads so that they can practice and implement one of their academic standards, which is being able to use technology in the classroom.

My Students

I am a Kindergarten teacher and my classroom this year consists of 16 students. I have a classroom consisted of low poverty to middle class to above middle class. All of them, however, are truly examples of what role models should look like. All of them are kind to each other, respectful, responsible and safe. We have created such a positive, safe, structured environment together and it truly shows when you watch the kiddos play together, work together and try to solve problems together. I couldn't imagine not having each and every one of them in my classroom and they have come so far since the beginning of the school year. When you hear kiddos say to one another, "It's ok to make mistakes and I am here if you need help", you know you've done what you need to do as a teacher! It warms my heart greatly.

My Project

If I were able to provide my classroom with two iPad's, my students would greatly benefit from being able to practice with present technology. The phonics curriculum that we are currently using, Jolly Phonics, consists of games that the students would play to review and practice their sounds and tricky (sight) words. The games are only available for Apple technology. As of right now, we are not able to implement those games since we do not have access to technology in our school. Students would be able to successfully complete their educational standard of "I can use technology" in the classroom. In Kindergarten, children need a variety of ways to learn a certain standard. Some are auditory learners and some are visual learners. I strongly believe that having two iPad's in the classroom would help those auditory and visual learners when it comes to forming letters, practicing sounds and tricky words, as well as math word problems, addition and counting.
